Newton, MA- The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced their All-Stars for the 2009 mens and womens lacrosse season and two Lasell College athletes were honored as part of the New England Regional Teams. Mike Maggio, a senior midfielder from Winchester, Massachusetts was selected to the ECAC mens lacrosse first team, while Caitlyn Murphy, a senior attack from Katonah, New York, was selected to the ECAC womens lacrosse second team.
Newton, MA- Marushka Eddy, first year head coach of the Lasell College womens lacrosse team has been named 2009 Coach of the Year by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference after leading the Lasers to their best season record, of 9-7. Five womens lacrosse athletes join Coach Eddy with All-Conference accolades, including Caitlyn Murphy (Katonah, NY) and Cassandra Haase (Ridgewood, NJ) on the first team, and Kristin Coderre (Monson, Mass.), Christina Canavan (Stonington, Conn.) and Meredith Hessler (Middletown, RI) on the second team.
Northfield, VT- Andrea Ward (Hingham, Mass.) scored four times while Caitlyn Murphy (Katonah, NY) tallied five points for the Lasers on Wednesday, but it was not enough as the Cadets of Norwich University ran away with a 22-11 womens lacrosse win in the GNAC tournament quarter finals. The Lasers finish their season at 9-7, while Norwich moves onto the championship game.
Newton, Mass- Mike Mahoney and Meredith Hessler have been selected as the GNAC Rookie of the Week in their respective sports. This is Mahoneys second nomination for Rookie of the Week in baseball this season, this is also Hesslers second recognition in womens lacrosse.
Standish, ME- Tina Canavan (Stonington, Conn.) led the Lasers to a hard fought win over Saint Josephs Maine on Saturday with six goals as Lasell defeated the Monks 18-15. Canavan also won seven draw controls, scored on two penalty shots, and added two ground balls to the mix as the Lasers notched their fourth GNAC victory.
Newton, MA- Caitlyn Murphy (Katonah, NY) had an incredible ten points for the Lasell College womens lacrosse team, scoring eight goals and adding two assists, leading the Lasers past Becker College, 23-19. The teams settled into a halftime tie before the Lasers caught fire to lead the entire second half. The Lasers record advances to 8-6 after their non-conference win, while the Hawks even out at 7-7.
Framingham, Mass.- The Lasell College womens lacrosse team was behind by as much as six goals in the first period of play before rallying to come back, tying the game with just 54 seconds remaining to force overtime. Kendall Bareirro (Ossining, NY) scored the last two regulation goals for the Lasers in the final two minutes to cause the extra stanza, but it was the Framingham State Rams who concluded as the victors, 15-13.
Newton, Mass.- Lasells sophomore goalkeeper Kristin Coderre and freshman midfielder Lexi Giatrelis were selected as Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Week respectively in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.
Chestnut Hill, Mass.- Lasells womens lacrosse team improved their overall record to 7-5, and their Great Northeast Athletic Conference slate to 3-2 after a securing at 13-6 win at Pine Manor College. Senior captain Caitlyn Murphy (Katonah, NY) tallied five goals in the game on six shots to lead the way for the Lasers.
The Norwich University Cadets came to Lasell on Saturday afternoon and showed why they are the top ranked team in the GNAC. The Cadets were able to beat the third place Lasers, 19-12, on a rainy and cold afternoon on Grellier Field.
CHICOPEE, MA Lasells junior attack Andrea Ward (Hingham, Mass.) led Lasell with six points as the Lasers raced to an 18-4 win over Elms College on Wednesday night at Leary Field. The Lasers have won their last three games, including the past two on the road to push their overall record to 6-4. The Blazers remain winless with an 0-6 record.
After starting 0-3 the Lasers womens lacrosse team has pushed their record to 5-4 with a solid road win on Monday. Lasell defeated Rhode Island College 11-8, due in large part to senior Caitlyn Murphy (Katonah, NY) and sophomore Tina Canavan (Stonington, CT).
For the 2nd week in a row senior Caitlyn Murphy (Katonah, NY) and sophomore Kristin Coderre (Monson, MA) were recognized by the GNAC earning weekly honors.
Newton, Mass. Lasell celebrated their five womens lacrosse players, Murphy, Cassandra Haase (Rindgewood, NJ), Valentina Hernandez (Jamaica Plain, Mass.), Erika McGrath (Saco, ME), and Kendall Barreiro (Ossining, NY), who are playing in their final season in Laser uniforms.
Kristin Coderre, a 510 sophomore goalie from Monson, Massachusetts, was selected as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) New England Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending March 23rd.
Newton, Mass- Amy Gervis (Randolph, NJ) scored four goals, including the game-winning goal, in the final fifteen minutes of the womens lacrosse contest today at Grellier Field between Lasell College and Emerson College, as the Lions snuck away with a 14-11 win. The Lions improve to 4-2 this season, and 1-0 in the conference, and Lasell falls to 3-4, and evens out at 1-1 in the GNAC.
Two softball and three lacrosse players got conference honors for the week ending March 23rd. The Lasers womens lacrosse team took down all three weekly awards given out by the GNAC, and softball took two of the three weekly awards.
The Lasell College womens lacrosse team was led once again by Caitlyn Murphy (Katonah, NY) who scored five goals and assisted another to notch 6 points for the Lasers en route to their first conference win of the 2009 season against Simmons College. The Lasers overpowered the first year program 18-11, and made their way to their third consecutive win. Lasell is now an even 3-3 on the year, while Simmons falls to 0-2.
Newton, Mass.- Lasell took their second win in a row with a 16-1 womens lacrosse victory over the Eagles of Daniel Webster College today on Grellier Field. The Lasers are now 2-3 this season, while the Eagles begin their first year as an NCAA program at 0-1. Ten Lasers scored points in the contest, with Meredith Hessler (Middletown, RI) leading the pack with six points, scoring two goals and four assists.
Newton, MA- Senior attack Caitlyn Murphy (Katonah, NY) scored seven goals for the Lasers en route to an 18-3 triumph over the Anna Maria Amcats on Monday afternoon at Grellier Field. Murphy scored the first five goals for Lasell in just over ten minutes in the first half, leading the Lasers to their first victory of the season. After todays matchup, the Amcats fall to 0-3 on the year.
Dudley, MA- Lasells womens lacrosse team fell in a close contest with Nichols College on Thursday afternoon, 11-9, at Vendetti Field. Though the Lasers held an advantage the entire game, the Bison came out with the victory scoring the final two goals of the day to make their season opener a success.

Milton, MA- The Lasell College Lasers womens lacrosse team opened the 2009 season at Curry College on Wednesday and were defeated 21-9 by the Colonels. Tina Canavan (Stonington, Conn.) lead the way for the Lasers with five points, on four goals and one assist.
