  • Lasers Give Back to the Community; Raise $400 for Charity

    NEWTON, MA- The Lasell College men’s and women’s basketball teams, in conjunction with the Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), raised $400.00 in an effort to support two community causes during the month of February. The Lasers first hosted two basketball contests to raise money and awareness in support of Haiti after two earthquakes hit and devastated the island country. The second fundraising effort was in support of the WBCA Pink Zone global initiative to raise money for breast cancer awareness.

Lasell’s sole senior, forward Tricia Culver (Northampton, MA) scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds in her final performance for the Blue & White.

    Newton, MA-- St. Joseph’s College of Maine prevailed over Lasell College, 67-39, on Saturday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest. Lasell’s record falls to 7-16 overall, and 3-7 in the GNAC, and St. Joseph’s boosted their overall record to 12-11 and 6-4 in the GNAC.

    Newton, MA- Lasell College took down the Gators of Pine Manor College, 82-51, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference women’s basketball play, Tuesday night at the Lasell Athletic Center. Senior forward Tricia Culver (Northampton, MA) scored a game-high 18 points, while grabbing 10 rebounds, dishing six assists and making five steals in the contest, as the Lasers improved their record to 7-15 this season.

The Rams picked up their fifth win in a row as they improve to 12-8 on the season, and 6-3 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference, while the Lasers fall to a 6-15 season record and 2-6 in the league.

The Bantams were led by Michelle Royals (Torrington, CT) who put up a team-best 14 points while the Lasers were led by junior guard Katie Farr (Rindge, NH) who tallied a game-high 19 points.

    Emmanuel earned the top spot in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Preseason Women’s Basketball Coaches Poll, the conference office announced on Thursday. The Saints captured the 2008-09 GNAC championship after posting a 22-8 overall record and 11-1 GNAC record. The championship marked the 13th GNAC championship title in the program’s history.

    On Sunday, September 20th, the Lasell College women’s basketball team took part in the 6th Annual Brian J. Honan 5K Road Race, volunteering to aid in running a successful event. The student-athletes assisted by directing people to parking lots, registering the runners, cutting fruit, handing out water, and supporting the runners and walkers along the three mile course.
