Lasers Drop Game to  WNEC 79-66

 

Newton, MA--The Lasers opened up the second half of their season tonight facing tough non-conference opponent Western New England College.  WNEC jumped out to an early 17 point lead at the 11:35 mark of the first half.  Lasell battled back, cutting the lead to six with 58 seconds left on a layup by first year Reegan Brackett (Scarborough, ME).  WNEC then closed out the final minute of the half with a 5-0 run and the Lasers went into half-time trailing 39-28. 

The second half of the game was back and forth with the teams trading baskets and possessions.  The Lasers were able to cut the lead to nine with 5:00 to go, but made a costly mistake calling a time-out with none left.  The resulting techinical foul ignited the Golden Bears on a 5-0 run and the Lasers were unable to recover.  The final score was 79-66 in favor of WNEC. 

Lasell was led by senior Tricia Culver (Northampton, MA) who had 18 points.  Kim Archibald (Lewiston, ME) and Kelsey Converse (Laconia, NH) also reached double digits with 11 ponits apiece.   Archibald also led the team in rebounds, pulling down eight.  WNEC was led by Kailah Al-Darraji who scored 21 for the visitors.   

The women drop to 3-7 overall and will begin conference play this weekend when they travel to Mount Ida for a 1:00 p.m. game on Saturday.
