PROVIDENCE, RI- The Lasell College women's basketball team fell to Johnson & Wales University, 68-58, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action on Wednesday night at the Harborside Recreation Center.

Lasell's junior guard Katie Farr (Rindge, NH) recorded 17 points and pulled down four rebounds in the defeat.  Senior forward Tricia Culver (Northampton, MA) added 14 points and an additional four boards and freshman Kim Archibald (Lewiston, ME) was a monster on the boards, ripping down a game-high 17 rebounds.

The hosting Wildcats were led by senior Alexia Ramirez (San Marcos, CA) with 20 points, five rebounds, and five helpers.  Fellow senior Jeniphr Moxley (Lakewood, WA) pitched in 16 additional points and tallied six boards.

Lasell dropped into an early 15-5 hole by the 15:22 mark in the first half.  However, the Lasers found their touch and took off on a 12-1 run over the following seven minutes to produce their first lead of the game, 17-16, on a jumper by Farr in the lane, with 7:43 remaining to play in the half.  Johnson & Wales turned the tables with a 8-2 stretch of their own to take back control of the scoreboard, 24-19.  The teams broke for halftime with just a one point spread between them, 27-26, Johnson & Wales advantage.

The Wildcats took the largest lead of the game after a three-pointer by freshman Marina Millian (Chester, NY) at the ten minute mark, but the Lasers were unwilling to go away quietly as they closed their deficit to just eight points, at  66-58, with a pair of free throws by Farr with just under a minute left. The Wildcats would score just one more basket by the final buzzer to conclude the contest 68-58.

Lasell falls to 7-17 overall, 3-8 in GNAC play, while the Wildcats bump their overall record to 11-12, 7-4 in the league.  Lasell returns to action on Saturday, February 20th, for a 1:00 p.m. contest with Simmons College.  The GNAC match will also be Senior Day for Lasell's sole senior women's basketball player, Tricia Culver, playing in her final contest in the Blue & White.
