Rams Pick Up, 63-48, Win Over Lasers

 

Boston,MA-  Lasell's women's basketball team fell to the Suffolk University Rams, 63-48, on Saturday afternoon.  The Rams picked up their fifth win in a row as they improve to 12-8 on the season, and 6-3 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference, while the Lasers fall to a 6-15 season record and 2-6 in the league.

The Rams had control for most of the game, going on an early 14-0 run to push the lead to 19-5 within the first eight minutes of play.  Lasell was able to close the gap slightly at the break, with a 34-22 halftime score.  

However, the Lasers fell behind by a margin of up to 18 in the second half. Suffolk forced 27 Laser turnovers in the game, scoring 23 points off of those turnovers. Despite both teams' being even in the rebound department at 46, the Rams held a 22-10 advantage on second chance points.

Lasell's junior guard Katie Farr (Rindge, NH) was instrumental in keeping the Lasers on track, scoring a game-high 17 points in the game, and going 4-7 behind the arc. Farr had a fantastic all-around game, adding eight rebounds, four steals, and two assists. 

Lasell's freshman forward Kim Archibald (Lewiston, ME) notched her ninth season double-double, scoring 13 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.  The Lasers also had strong performances from freshman guard Reegan Brackett(Scarborough, ME), who pulled down seven rebounds, and senior forward Tricia Culver (Northampton, MA), who tallied eight points and posted five rebounds. 

On the Rams end of the court, sophomore Meghan Black (Roslindale, Mass.) notched her third double-double of the season posting 16 points and 10 rebounds, and sophomore Kristina Hayner (Bedford, N.H.) finished the game with 14 points, scoring 12 of them in the first half.  Senior Laura Thompson (Kennebunk, Me.) led all rebounders with 13 boards while also chipping in with eight points.

Lasell will continue Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play this week. The Lasers will be back in action on Tuesday, February 9th, as hosts to Pine Manor College, at 7:00pm.
