• Murphy & Maggio Earn ECAC New England All-Star Nods

    Newton, MA- The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced their All-Stars for the 2009 men’s and women’s lacrosse season and two Lasell College athletes were honored as part of the New England Regional Teams. Mike Maggio, a senior midfielder from Winchester, Massachusetts was selected to the ECAC men’s lacrosse first team, while Caitlyn Murphy, a senior attack from Katonah, New York, was selected to the ECAC women’s lacrosse second team.
  • Maggio & Stambler Selected to NEILA East-West Senior All-Star Game

    Newton, MA- Lasell College senior men’s lacrosse players Mike Maggio, of Winchester, Mass., and Matthew Stambler, of Bay Shore, NY, were selected to compete in the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Assosociation’s East-West Senior All-Star game. The NEILA East-West game honors the top senior men’s lacrosse players in New England from each of the three divisions. Only 37 total athletes are selected by a committee, made up primarily of area head coaches, to participate in the showcase.

    Newton, Mass.- Three Lasell men's lacrosse players have been selected to the Pilgrim League All-Conference teams for the 2009 season. Mike Maggio (Winchester, Mass.) and Matthew Stambler (Bay Shore, NY) were honored on the first team, while Brandon Keith (Marston Mills, Mass.) was selected to the second team.
  • Lasell's Maggio Scores Game Winner 17 Seconds into Sudden Death OT

    Mike Maggio (Winchester, Mass.) sealed a 13-12 sudden death overtime victory for the Lasell College men’s lacrosse team, shooting the incredible game-winning goal just 17 seconds into the extra period. Maggio scored four total goals in the contest with Clark University, including game-tying tally with 1:18 left in the final quarter to force overtime. With the victory, Lasell finishes the 2009 season with a 5-10 slate, and a 3-4 record in the Pilgrim League.
  • Lasers Suffer Defeat by Babson

    BABSON PARK, Mass. – Lasell College was defeated by the Beavers of Babson College 14-10 in men’s lacrosse Pilgrim League play on Wednesday night on MacDowell Field. The Lasers were led by junior attackman Brandon Keith (Marston Mills, Mass.) with four goals and five total points on the night. Lasell is now 4-10 and 2-4 in the Pilgrim League.

    Buzzard Bay, MA- Mass Maritime ran away with a 17-10 Pilgrim League victory over the Lasers on Saturday afternoon, giving the Buccaneers their first conference win.

    NEW LONDON, Conn.— Lasell College faced a difficult matchup with the Connecticut College Camels who overwhelmed the Lasers men’s lacrosse team 16-4. Ryan Hayes (Darien, Conn.) exploded to seven goals and one assist, leading the Camels to their third straight victory.

    Northfield, VT- Lasell College out produced the Norwich Cadets in every statistical category in a cold, rainy Saturday afternoon men’s lacrosse game which fell in favor of the Lasers 12-5. The Pilgrim League contest ended with the Lasers evening out in the conference 2-2, while the Cadets remain winless at 0-3.
  • Springfield Remains Perfect in Pilgrim taking 11-3 Victory from Lasell

    Newton, Mass.- The Pride of Springfield College remains undefeated in the Pilgrim Lacrosse League after an 11-3 victory today over the Lasell College Lasers, on Grellier Field. The Pride are 5-4 overall with a 3-0 Pilgrim record, and the Lasers finish the day with 1-2 league mark, 3-7 overall.
  • Lyons Come Out on Top in Pilgrim League Contest with Lasers

    Newton, Mass.- The Lasers started out with a 5-1 advantage which the Lyons of Wheaton College slowly chipped away at to earn the conference victory over Lasell 13-10 on Saturday afternoon at Grellier Field. The Lasers are now an even 1-1 in the Pilgrim League, and 3-6 overall.
  • Keith Named Pilgrim League Player of the Week

    Newton, Mass.- Brandon Keith has been selected as the Pilgrim Lacrosse League Player of the Week. Keith, a junior attackman from Marson Mills, Massachusetts, score Lasell’s game winning goal in their Pilgrim League opener this week against MIT, while recording a total of eight goals and adding two assists and seven ground balls over the course of the 2-0 week for the Lasers.
  • Lasers Win Pilgrim League Tussle with MIT 10-9 in OT

    Cambridge, MA- Lasell’s junior attackman Brandon Keith (Marston Mills, Mass.) recorded the game winning goal in the Pilgrim Lacrosse League opener between the Lasers and MIT. Lasell came away with a 10-9 win after Keith struck with just 1:49 remaining in the extra period.
  • Lasers Blaze by Plymouth State

    Newton, Mass.- The Lasers powered past Plymouth State University in men’s lacrosse action on Grellier Field Tuesday afternoon in a 14-7 victory over the Panthers. The Lasers never trailed in the contest, going up 6-0 at the half, and improving their overall record to 2-5, while the Panthers fall to 0-3.

  • Men's Lax Suffers Loss to Nor'Easters

    Newton, Mass.- University of New England’s senior Dan Leyden (Northfield, Mass.) score more than half of the Nor’easters goals en route to an 11-8 victory over Lasell College in men’s lacrosse on Thursday. Despite Lasell seniors Ryan Koerner (Floral Parks, NY) and Mike Maggio’s (Winchester, Mass.) combined performance of seven goals between them, the Nor’easters held off the Lasers, who finished the day at 1-4.

    Hartford, Conn-Trinity College powered their way to a 14-1 non-conference men’s lacrosse vitctory over the visiting Lasell Lasers. The Bantams improve to 3-1 this season, while the Lasers fall to 1-3 after Tuesday afternoons contest on Jessee/Miller Field.
  • Men’s Lacrosse Topples UMASS Boston

    Newton, Mass.- The Lasell College men’s lacrosse team took a convincing 16-5 win over the Beacons of University of Massachusetts, Boston on Saturday afternoon on Grellier Field. The Lasers won every statistical battle except for total shots, which they tied in with the beacons, at 34 total apeice. UMass slips to 0-1 this season and the Lasers improve to 1-2.
  • Tufts Men’s Lacrosse Too Much for Lasers

    Newton, MA- Lasell College fell to Tufts University in men’s lacrosse action today at Grellier Field, 22-8. The Jumbos, who are ranked 23rd nationally according to USILA, and 19th by LAXnews, have won two straight games to open the 2009 season. Lasell has lost in each of their non-conference contests so far, leaving them at the 0-2 mark.
  • Lasell Defeated by Roger Williams in Season Opener

    Newton, Mass.- Roger Williams University opened the 2009 men’s lacrosse season with a 12-3 victory over Lasell College, on Saturday afternoon at Grellier Field. Roger Williams was paced by a balance offensive attack, with the brunt of the scoring handled by Beaver Barone (Weymouth, Mass.) and Dave Hurley (Hanover, Mass.), who each connected on three goals, and added an assist.
  • BULHOES, STAMBLER, MAGGIO NAMED PRESEASON ALL-CONFERENCE

    The 2009 pre-season polls for the Pilgrim League have just been released by Inside Lacrosse Magazine Face Off Yearbook and the Lasell College men’s lacrosse team was picked fourth in the rankings. However, the Lasers’ were the only other program besides Springfield College (no. 1 pick) to have multiple athletes selected to the preseason All-Conference Team. Three Lasell athletes, Dave Bulhoes (Billerica, Mass.), Mike Maggio (Winchester, Mass.), and Matt Stambler (Bay Shore, NY) were all selected to receive the preseason honors.
