Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-- The Skidmore College men's lacrosse team used a balanced attack with 11 players getting points in a 16-2 win over Lasell College, Saturday at Wachenheim Field. The Thoroughbreds are 4-1, while Lasell falls to 1-5.
Senior attackman Nick Coppola (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) became the Thoroughbred all-time career assist leader with his assist on Rob Lutin's (Port Washington, N.Y./Schreiber) goal at 13:16 of the first quarter. Coppola has 100 assists, breaking the career mark of 95 set by Chris Bivona in 2003. He finished with a goal and five assists.
Skidmore put the game away early, outscoring the Lasers 8-1 in the first quarter and 12-1 in the first half. Coppola had a goal and four assists in the first half. Lutin had all three of his goals in the first half, while Matt Levesque (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) had two goals and an assist in the first half.
Matt Levesque finished with three goals and three assists. Also for Skidmore, Ben Cornell (Natick, Mass./Middlesex) scored three goals and had an assist and Cory Barkoff (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) had two assists, seven ground balls, and won 10 of 11 faceoffs.
Brandon Keith (Marston Mills, Mass./Barnstable) had both Lasell goals.
Skidmore outshot Lasell 56-13 and had a 47-27 ground ball advantage.
Thoroughbred goalies Flip Bongaerts, Vivek Huded, and Connor Dowling combined for five saves. Mike Kelliher had 20 saves for Lasell.
