Lasers Suffer Defeat by Babson

BABSON PARK, Mass. - Lasell College was defeated by the Beavers of Babson College 14-10 in men's lacrosse Pilgrim League play on Wednesday night on MacDowell Field.  The Lasers were led by junior attackman Brandon Keith (Marston Mills, Mass.) with four goals and five total points on the night.  Lasell is now 4-10 and 2-4 in the Pilgrim League.

Babson started the scoring with sophomore Andrew Packer (Hudson, Ohio) notching his first of four goals.  Lasell then retaliated 30 seconds later as Keith fired in the tying goal early.  The Beavers then went on a 3-0 run to give them a 4-1 lead.

By the end of the first quarter, Babson was up 5-3, with Keith scoring once more for Lasell and Mike Maggio (Winchester, Mass.) also finding the net once.

In the second quarter, the Beavers outscored Lasell 5-4 to go ahead 10-7 at halftime.  Anthony Erz (Hampton, NJ) contributed his first goal of the season unassisted, and Chris Bulkley (Groton, Conn.) also made his mark at 12:05 in the second.  Keith's 26th goal of the season closed Lasell to within one goal at 7-6, and Dave Bulhoes (Billerica, Mass.) tied things up a second time at 7-all, with just under seven minutes left in the half.

Babson went on to score the final three goals of the quarter before the break for intermission.

Packer began things once again for Babson in the third, scoring just 45 seconds into the stanza.  Keith and Bulhoes each connected once more in the period as well before a near 8 minute break in scoring took place.  The quarter ended 11-9, Babson still leading.

Babson pulled further away from the Lasers in the final fifteen minutes, outscoring Lasell 3-1 in the period.  Ryan Koerner (Floral Parks, NY) scored the lone Lasell goal in the final six minutes of the game.

Mike Kelliher (Weymouth, Mass.) went the distance in the net for Lasell, making 15 saves and adding a game-high six groundballs.  Erz also contributed winning 15 of 21 face-offs, while Adam Foss (Billerica, Mass.) won 4 of 7.  Maggio and Bulhoes each finished with three points apiece.

Lasell will host Clark on Sunday at 1pm in a Pilgrim League game, while also celebrating Senior Day to honor their five graduating seniors during their last home game, on Grellier Field.
