After finishing second in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference with a 6-1 record, winning their first post-season conference game in program history, and making their way to the GNAC Championship, the Lasell College men’s lacrosse team capped their successful 2011 campaign with seven All-Conference awards, including a Rookie of the Year honor for freshman Dylan Fernandes (Billerica, MA). Sophomore Dylan Gray (Bayport, NY), senior Nick Sampson (Londonderry, NH), and junior Adam Foss (Billerica, MA) pulled in first team recognition while senior Chris Bulkley (Groton, CT), sophomore Matthew Keiler (Salem, MA), and senior Eric Walsh (Weymouth, MA) were acknowledge on the second team.

NEWTON, MA- Lasell College will play in the inaugural Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men’s lacrosse tournament championship on Saturday after defeating Norwich University, 13-9, in the semi-final round today on Grellier Field. The second seeded Lasers will clash against regular season champion, and number one seeded Mount Ida College in the final on the Mustangs home field. No. 3 seeded Norwich completes their journey in GNAC post-season play with an 8-5 overall record.
The 2011 GNAC Men’s Lacrosse Playoff pairings are now available. For the GNAC inaugural season of men’s lacrosse, Mount Ida College (7-0, 9-7) is crowned the first regular season champions. The Mustangs played an incredible regular season, going undefeated in conference play and earning a clutch victory over conference rival Lasell College in order to clinch the top ranking. The Lasers, 8-7, 6-1 GNAC, finished second in the league behind the Mustangs.
NEWTON, MA- Lasell College men’s lacrosse ended the 2011 regular season with a 23-0 shutout of Rivier College on Friday afternoon at Grellier Field. Twenty-one Lasers scored points in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) game, as Lasell lands at 2nd place in the conference heading into the post season tournament, with an 8-7 overall and a 6-1 league slate. Rivier’s campaign comes to a close with a 0-9 overall and 0-7 GNAC record.
NEWTON, MA – With two and a half minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Mount Ida College men’s lacrosse junior attacker Zach Jacobson (Shoreview, MN) split two defenders behind the net and converted a one-on-one with the goaltender to give the Mustangs a 7-6 lead that would eventually become their sixth Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory to remain undefeated in league play against visiting rival Lasell Colllege Wednesday afternoon. The two squads went into the game in a tie for first place in the conference standings with the Mustangs prevailing improving to an overall record of 8-7 and now sit atop the GNAC at a perfect 6-0. The Lasers fall in their first league bid of the season slumping to an overall record of 7-7 and fall to 5-1 in conference play.
NEWTON, MA- Lasell College men’s lacrosse powered past the Daniel Webster College Eagles, 25-3, on the Lasers Senior Day today on Grellier Field. All seven Lasell seniors aided the effort which keeps Lasell at the top of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) standings with a 7-6 overall record and an unbeaten 5-0 record in the league. Daniel Webster slips to 3-5 this season, and 1-3 in GNAC play.
LEICESTER, MA- The Lasell College men’s lacrosse team easily rolled to a 13-4 victory over Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponent Becker College on Wednesday night at Alumni Field. The Lasers level out their overall record at 6-6 this season and a perfect 4-0 in the GNAC thus far. Becker drops to a 6-8 slate and an even 2-2 GNAC record.

PORTLAND, ME – In the first-ever Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men’s lacrosse contest between Lasell College and St. Joseph’s College of Maine, the Lasers proved the better team coming out on top with an 18-5 victory over the Monks. Nick Sampson (Londonderry, NH) paced the Lasers with four goals as well as assisting on Sean Speciale’s (Hillsborough, NJ) game winner in the second quarter.
HARTFORD, CT- Trinity College men’s lacrosse, ranked No. 15 nationally and No. 4 in New England, prevailed 13-5 over visiting Lasell College on Wednesday afternoon at the Jesse/Miller Field in non-conference action.

The Panthers were paced by freshman attack Zach Frank (Wakefield, MA) who scored four goals, including the first of the season for the Panthers and the game-winning tally.
NEWTON, MA- Nick Sampson (Londonderry, NH) scored the game-winning goal with 1:16 left in overtime to seal a 9-8 victory over visiting Roger Williams University in the Lasell College men’s lacrosse home opener on Wednesday afternoon. Sampson took a feed from Dylan Gray (Bayport, NY) and pounded the ball past Hawk goalkeeper Tyler Roebuck (Montgomery, NY) to give Lasell their first win of the early 2011 season.
Mount Ida College will be tagged as the pre-season favorite in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Lacrosse inaugural season according to the pre-season coaches’ poll. The Mustangs earned 47 of a possible 49 points, making Mount Ida the near unanimous favorite to capture their first GNAC title. Lasell College was picked to finish second, just ahead of third place Norwich University and fourth place St. Joseph’s Maine.
