Lasers Roll to Fourth Straight Win

LEICESTER, MA- The Lasell College men's lacrosse team easily rolled to a 13-4 victory over Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponent Becker College on Wednesday night at Alumni Field.  The Lasers level out their overall record at 6-6 this season and a perfect 4-0 in the GNAC thus far.  Becker drops to a 6-8 slate and an even 2-2 GNAC record.

The Lasers leapt out to a 4-0 lead through the first quarter and extended their advantage to 7-1 at the midway break.  Sean Speciale (Hillsborough, NJ) got Lasell on the board just 1:17 into play and Dylan Gray (Bayport, NY) followed just 28 seconds later, to take an early 2-0 edge.

Goals by Nick Sampson (Londonderry, NH) and Jon Elia (East Lyme, CT) in a seven second span between 5:32 and 5:25 completed the first frame scoring with Lasell's defense holding the Hawks to just two shots in 15 minutes.

Elia struck again in the opening minute of the second quarter, taking help from Ladson Shaello-Johnson (Binghampton, NY) and then Gray notched his second  goal of the evening to give Lasell a six goal lead.

Becker's David Deschenes (Gales Ferry, CT) finally got one past Lasell's goalie, and current GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week honoree, Eric Walsh (Weymouth, MA) at 4:43 in the second when Jeff Petersen (Syracuse, NY) setup the reigning GNAC Rookie of the Week to score inside the left post.  Lasell concluded the half with a Dylan Fernandes (Billerica, MA) mark, assisted by Chris Bulkley (Groton, CT).

In the third period, Elia completed a hat trick at 6:57 and in the fourth both Gray and Speciale also completed the three-goal feat.

Gray led all players with seven points, scoring four goals and adding three assists.   Elia and Speciale both added one assist to the three goals for four points each and Bulkley finished with three helpers.

Adam Foss (Billerica, MA) went 12-for-17 on the faceoff, which Lasell won overall 14-21.  The Lasers were also led by Foss in ground balls with eight.

Walsh made six saves in net for Lasell to keep the Lasers unbeaten in conference action.  Michael Munoz (Avon, CT) made 11 saves in the Hawks net in the loss.

The Lasers will continue the GNAC portion of the schedule when they host Daniel Webster College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. At the contest, Lasell's seven senior men's lacrosse players will be recognized on their Senior Day prior to the start of the contest.
