Lasers Dominate Lions in Men’s Lacrosse Action

NEWTON, MA- Lasell College men's lacrosse dominated visiting Emerson College, 27-3, today on Grellier Field to improve to 2-0 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play, and to 4-6 overall.  The Lions remain winless this season at 0-7, and 0-2 in the league.

Lasell held the visitors scoreless for over 35 minutes, well into the third quarter, as they shot out ahead on a 19-0 sprint before the Lions put one in at 7:37 in the third quarter.

The Lasers took a comfortable lead, 6-0, through just one period holding an incredible 17-2 edge in shots, winning on all but 1-of-8 face-offs, and committing just four turnovers in the quarter.

Less than a minute into the game Dylan Fernandes (Billerica, MA) put Lasell ahead, unassisted, at 14:02.  Jon Elia (East Lyme, CT) nailed his first of two shots in the period off the stick of Dylan Gray (Bayport, NY) one minute later and Gray put the Lasers up, 3-0, at 11:25.  Elia, Fernandes, and Adam Foss (Billerica, MA) finished the quarter with one more each to give Lasell the commanding edge.

Lasell remained in stride through the second quarter scoring nine goals to generate a 15-goal lead into halftime.  Nick Sampson (Londonderry, NH) excelled by adding three markers to his belt in the quarter and a Ladson Shaello-Johnson (Binghamton, NY) distance goal fired off from the top of the restraining line at 10:04 highlighted the period.  Jake LaMorte (Walpole, MA) catching James Finn (Quincy, MA) on the run for the final tally of the period brought Lasell to a 15-0 lead at intermission.

A combined four more Lasell goals were scored off the sticks of Finn, LaMorte, Matt Catalano (Syracuse, NY) and Brendan Ham (Scarborough, ME) over a five minute span in the third before Max Smith (Gillette, NJ) notched the first Emerson goal, unassisted.  Smith would add another goal for the Lions in the fourth quarter, at 14:05, assisted by Dan Gold (Randolph, NJ).  Josh Anderson (Underhill Center, VT) added the final Lion marker, set up by Tyler Hastings (Levittown, NY) at 9:22 in the last period.

Lasell would go on to convert on three more scores through the final nine minutes, including a man-down goal by Charles Graham (Londonderry, NH), and Austin Mishaw's (Wilmington, DE) first goal of the season.  Gianni Nicolosi (Beverly Hills, CA), Anthony Erz (Hampton, NJ), Matthew Keiler (Salem, MA), and Hyun Soo Lim (Concord, NH) also netted their first goals of the year in today's event.

Lasell won on 22-of-33 face-offs in the game, with 8-of-12 being earned by Shaello-Johnson and 6-of-9 being collected by Foss.  The Lasers outshot the Lions 57-14 throughout the game and controlled 38 ground balls to Emerson's 23.  Foss also was the individual leader in ground ball pickups, grabbing seven.

Tyler Silliman (Windsor, CT) was the winning goalkeeper in the contest with four saves made.  Braden Campbell (Northfield, NJ) took the loss in net for the Lions with 13 stops.

Lasell will progress in GNAC action on Saturday, April 9th when they will host Norwich University at 12:00 p.m. on Grellier Field.
