Four Lasers Earn GNAC Weekly Honors

Four Lasers picked up Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly accolades this week.

Eric Howard (Newton, MA) was honored as the GNAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season.  Howard pitched a shutout against Norwich University on Saturday, allowing just three hits and one walk in the league contest.  He recorded an incredible 12 strikeouts in the contest, setting a new Lasell College single game record for strikeouts in a game.

Eric Walsh (Weymouth, MA) picked up his second Goalkeeper of the Week honor in a near shutout, also against Norwich University on Saturday.  Walsh saved 80% of the Cadets shots on goal, yielding just one mark in the third quarter while making four saves in the contest.

Kristin Coderre (Monson, MA) was also picked as the women’s lacrosse Goalkeeper of the Week.  This is Coderre’s fourth honor in five weeks of competition this Spring.  Coderre had an outstanding week, going 3-0, and 2-0 in GNAC action.  She made 14 saves against Nichols, then picked up 11 more against St. Joseph’s Maine, and nine against Simmons.  She averaged 11.3 saves per game over the course of the week.

Ashley Slattery (Weymouth, MA) was also picked by the conference for her second weekly honor of the season as the women’s lacrosse Player of the Week.  Slattery led the Lasers in their 3-0 week with impressive numbers across the board.  The sophomore midfielder scored 14 goals this week and totaled 16 points, averaging 5.3 points and 4.3 goals per game.  She scored the game winner against St. Joseph’s College of Maine on Thursday and also contributed 17 draw controls, 17 ground balls, and three caused turnovers over the course of the week.
