Lasers Stay Undefeated in GNAC with 10-1 Trumping of Cadets

NEWTON, MA- Lasell remained undefeated in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) after a 10-1 take down of Norwich University on Saturday at Grellier Field.  

Freshman Dylan Fernandes (Billerica, MA) scored four goals to lead the Lasers to their third straight win.  Dylan Gray (Bayport, NY), Nick Sampson (Londonderry, NH), Dan Clark (Scarborough, ME), and Sean Speciale (Hillsborough, NJ) added two points each, Speciale solely on goals while Gray, Sampson, and Clark split with one goal and one assist each.  Gray also picked up a team-best five ground balls. 

Jon Elia (East Lyme, CT) completed scoring with one goal in the GNAC tussle while Atticus Robert (Concord, NH), Kyle Dickinson (Branford, CT), Chris Livelli (Hillsborough, NJ), and Adam Foss (Billerica, MA) handed out one helper apiece. 

Senior goalkeeper Eric Walsh (Weymouth, MA) secured the win for Lasell in the net with four saves in the near shutout. 

Scoring did not get underway until 4:30 in the first quarter when Speciale hit an unassisted tally to put Lasell on top.  Clark added a man-up goal 34 seconds later, which would eventually turn out to be the game winner.  Clark was set up for the game-deciding tally by Gray, who would follow with Lasell's third goal with just 47 ticks left on the clock in the period.

Lasell's 3-0 lead would double in the second quarter, allowing Lasell to go comfortably into break with a six goal edge.  

Ian Mendoza (Mount Airy, MD) would record the only goal of the third quarter, and the only mark of the game for Norwich, netting the goal at 13:24 off the stick of Joe Galante (Framingham, MA).  

Lasell added four more goals, including another extra-man tally, in the fourth period to bring about the 10-1 triumph. 

Mark Paradiso (Westford, MA) and Nathan Proctor (Pleasanton, CA) shared time in net for the Cadets, making a combined 19 saves.  Nate Fortezzo (Branford, CT) was dominant on the face-off, winning 85.7% of the chances, going 12-for-14 throughout the day.  Andrew Dustin (Canterbury, NH) added a game-high six ground balls for Norwich.

Lasell hits the road on Wednesday, April 13th for a night game at Becker College, also a conference matchup, which begins at 7:00 p.m.
