No. 15 Trinity Downs Lasell

HARTFORD, CT-  Trinity College men's lacrosse, ranked No. 15 nationally and No. 4 in New England, prevailed 13-5 over visiting Lasell College on Wednesday afternoon at the Jesse/Miller Field in non-conference action. 

 

The Bantams, who remain undefeated at 6-0 this season, were led by a four-goal effort by Greg Brennan (East Setauket, NY) while Lasell, who dropped to 2-6 this year, was led by Dylan Fernandes (Billerica, MA) with two goals.

 

Trinity jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the initial four minutes after goals by Rob Nogueras (Parkland, FL) and Eric Phillips (Darien, CT).  Fernandes cut the lead to 2-1, at 10:13, but the Bantams charged into a 7-0 run to close the first half with a 9-1 edge.

 

Dylan Gray (Bayport, NY) scored immediately in the third quarter for Lasell, however, Trinity went on to complete their scoring through the next 14 minutes with four uninterrupted goals. 

 

In the final ten minutes of the contest, Lasell finished the game on a 3-0 run.  Fernandes scored unassisted at 9:41, followed by an extra-man goal by Sean Speciale (Hillsborough, NJ) with two minutes left to play.  Nick Sampson (Londonderry, NH) finalized the scoring with 22 ticks left on the clock, taking a feed from Chris Bulkley (Groton, CT) while man-up.

 

 

Eric Walsh (Weymouth, MA) and Tyler Sillman (Windsor, CT) combined to make eight saves for the Lasers in net, while Lasell junior Adam Foss (Billerica, Mass.) totaled a game-high eight ground balls, and went 10-for-20 in face-offs. 

 

On Saturday, April 2nd, Lasell will travel to St. Joseph's College of Maine to open up Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action against the Monks at 12:45.
