MVB: Lasers Sweep Senior Day Tri-Match

Newton, MA- The Lasers celebrated their Senior Day this Saturday, in a conference tri-match against Elms College and Wentworth Institute of Technology. Lasell walked away from the day with two clean sweeps, climbing to 12-2 in conference play.

Lasell's offense was clicking on all cylinders, as the Lasers recorded an impressive .348 team hitting percentage. The team was led by Carter Phillips, who had an outstanding performance with 11 kills on just 14 attempts, finishing with a .786 hitting percentage. Theo Zaharewicz also contributed significantly, adding seven kills on 15 attempts with a .333 hitting percentage.

Ryan Tierney and Peyton Walter were both effective contributors, recording three and four kills, respectively. Setter Cody Bonilla had another excellent showing, dishing out 34 assists while adding one service ace and five digs to help guide the offense.

Defensively, Lasell was solid, with Remy Cahalan leading the charge with five digs. The Lasers also were effective at the net, recording eight total blocks, with Carter Phillips adding a team-high two blocks.

 

Lasell vs WIT 

Several standout performances highlighted the Lasers' impressive victory. Zaharewicz led the charge offensively, contributing 10 kills and showcasing great resilience despite a solid effort from Wentworth's defense. Zaharewicz also posted 26 total attempts and a .154 hitting percentage, playing a crucial role in the team's offensive success.

Benjamin Walinjom had another strong performance, tallying 10 kills and 17 total attempts for a .471 hitting percentage. Schultz, continued to impress with 6 kills on 14 attempts, adding 8.5 points to the scoreboard. Dexter Thomas, another key contributor, was efficient in his offensive role, finishing with 4 kills and a .444 hitting percentage.

Teddy Teraszkiewicz had a balanced performance, tallying 8 kills and 12 digs, while also contributing defensively with 1 block. 

Trystan Maloney, the Lasers' setter, orchestrated the offense with precision, dishing out 30 assists in the match. On the defensive side, Ryan Mesnik provided a strong presence in the backcourt, contributing 8 digs and showcasing his ability to keep rallies alive. His efforts helped to frustrate Wentworth's attackers and limited their scoring chances.

Up Next: The Lasers are set to host their GNAC semi-final matchup this coming Thursday, with the opponent to be determined.
