NEWTON, MA— The Lasell College women’s soccer team is the 2011 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament Champion after a 2-1 defeat of Suffolk University on Saturday afternoon at Taylor Field. Jessica Taylor (Standish, ME) scored the game-winning goal at 59:36 to give Lasell their second consecutive title at the conclusion of the 17th annual GNAC Championship Tournament, as well as the automatic qualifier into the NCAA Tournament.

The eighth seeded Monks were bounced from the playoffs, finishing the season with a 7-5-5 overall record while the reigning GNAC Champion, and first seed in the tournament, advances to the semifinals with a 14-4-1 record to date.
PROVIDENCE, RI- Five Lasell College women’s soccer players notched goals en route to a 5-1 victory over Rhode Island College on Wednesday night. The non-conference matchup left Lasell at 12-4-1 at the conclusion of their 2011 regular season while Rhode Island lands at 2-15.

NEWTON, MA - On October 15th, 2011, the Lasell College women’s soccer team will be hosting their second annual “Play 4 the Cure” event. In honor of Maria La Francesca, the mother of head coach Vito La Francesca, the team will be holding a benefit game to raise money and increase breast cancer awareness. All proceeds will be donated to the Massachusetts General Hospital’s Gillette Center for Breast Cancer.

Lasell scored three times in the contest before Norwich even got on the board which carried the hosts to remain undefeated in conference play at 3-0, and improve to 3-2 overall. Norwich suffered their first loss of the season and drops to 3-1-1 overall, and 1-1-1 in GNAC action.
