Harris, Lynch Collect GNAC Weekly Honors

NEWTON, MA-  Jamie Harris (Lynnfield, MA) and Bridget Lynch (Dover, NH) were named women's soccer Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, by the Great Northeast athletic Conference (GNAC).

This is Harris' second consecutive honor from the conference after earning GNAC and ECAC Player of the Week honors last week as well.  She received this week's award after another three standout performances where she scored two goals and added two assists, including two game-winners in a 3-0 week for Lasell.

Harris started the week with the incredible game-deciding goal in a double-overtime triumph against Brandeis University, who were ranked 8th in New England at the time.  Harris chased down a long pass, made a move to split her defenders and beat the Judges goalkeeper with just 4:05 left to play in the extra frame.

She then went on to score the game-winner in a 5-0 defeat of local rivals Mount Ida College on Sunday.  Harris added two assists this week, and averaged 2.0 points per game.

Lynch collected her first honor from the league after scoring all four of Lasell's goals, including a natural hat trick through just 15 minutes of play, against Suffolk University in a 4-1 win for Lasell.  Lynch scored the go-ahead goal for Lasell in the 6th minute and then again in the 70th minute before scoring the game-winner at 77:41 to keep Lasell unbeaten in the GNAC.

Lynch has scored five goals this season and distributed one assist, ranking her third on the team in total points (11) so far this season.

Harris is ranked first with 16 points, having scored seven goals and handed out two assists.  For her career, Harris has a total of 57 points, recorded on 27 goals and three assists.

The Lasers remain on a 16-game unbeaten at home streak which dates back to November 1, 2009 when they dropped a 1-0 game to Saint Joseph Connecticut in the GNAC quarter finals.  They have outscored their opponents 26-5 in the past seven contests, as well as outscoring their GNAC opponents 24-4 so far this season.

The Lasers play next on Saturday, Oct. 1st on Taylor Field at 1:00 p.m. against Simmons College.
