WSOC: Season Ends as Lasell Falls 2-0 to Johnson & Wales

Providence, RI- The Lasers 2024 campaign ended this Tuesday evening as the Wildcats of Johnson and Wales bested Lasell with a 2-0 final score. Despite a strong defensive effort, the Lasers were unable to find the back of the net and struggled to generate the offensive chances needed to take down the Wildcats.

The first half saw both teams battle for possession, but it was Johnson & Wales who broke through late in the period. At the 39:08 mark, Rowan Garr scored the first goal of the game, assisted by Sophia Warburton, giving the Wildcats a 1-0 lead going into halftime. Lasell was limited to just one shot in the first half, unable to break through the defensive wall set by Johnson & Wales.

In the second half, the Lasers came out with more offensive intent, registering four shots, but still couldn't crack the Johnson & Wales defense. At the 61:58 mark, Grace Sheehan extended the Wildcats' lead to 2-0, with an assist from Jamie Davies. Despite a few more opportunities, Lasell was unable to mount a comeback.

Goalkeeper Elizabeth DaSilva had a busy day in goal, making 7 saves in 90 minutes of play. DaSilva kept her team in the game with some key stops, but the pressure from Johnson & Wales proved too much, especially with the Wildcats registering 21 shots compared to Lasell's 4.
