WSOC: Lasers Beat Cadets for third straight win

Newton, MA

The Lasell University women's soccer team beat the Norwich Cadets, 5-0 Wednesday afternoon at Taylor Field. The Lasers improve to 5-4 overall and 5-0 in conference play. With the loss, the Cadets fall to 2-6-1 (0-4-1).

Lasell got on the board in the 16th minute when Bobbi O'Guin (Newton, MA) took the ball into the box and shot it past the keeper and into the net for her second goal of the season.

Four minutes later, Sarah Lynch (Warwick, RI) shot the ball towards the net. The Cadet keeper couldn't control the ball and the rebound was controlled by Evelyn DiFiore (Las Vegas, NV). DiFiore then passed the ball to Camdyn LaMarre (Belgrade, ME) who shot the ball into the net.

One minute later, Serena Speight (Biddeford, ME) controlled a loose ball at the top of the box. She then took a dribble and shot it into the far-right-hand corner of the net.

Lasell almost made it 4-0 in the 45th minute off a corner when Michelina D'Agostino (Longmeadow, MA) served the ball into the box. Isabella Goral (Wallingford, CT) then headed the ball towards goal, but Cadet keeper Rebecca Karis (Fayetteville, NC) made a lunging save to keep the ball out of the net. The Lasers led 3-0 going into the break.

Lasell made it 4-0 in the 62nd minute when O'Guin found Lynch inside the box. Lynch took a dribble and was then able to direct the ball into the net.

O'Guin added her second goal of the contest in the 76th minute when she dribbled down the left flank, made a move inside, and shot the ball into the opposite side of the net.

When the final whistle blew, the Lasers won 5-0.

Freshman goalie Elizabeth DaSilva (Somerville, MA) recorded the shutout for the Lasers.

The Lasers are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Chicopee to take on Elms College at 2:00 p.m. Norwich will also play on Saturday as they host Emmanuel College at 5 p.m.
