WSOC: Lasers cruise past Emmanuel

Newton, MA-

The Lasell University women's soccer team defeated the  Emmanuel College Saints, 4-1 Wednesday afternoon at Taylor Field.. The Lasers improve to 2-3 and the Saint fall to 4-1.

The Lasers got on the board in the fourth minute when senior midfielder Bobbi O'Guin (Newton, MA) crossed the ball to freshman forward Camdyn LaMarre (Belgrade, ME) who was stationed at the top of the box.  LaMarre then shot the ball into the lower left corner of the net. 

The Saints responded in the thirty-first minute when junior forward Addie Legault passed the ball through traffic to freshman forward Sarah Dullaghan (Belmont, MA), who then shot the ball into the right side of the net. 

The game was tied 1-1 going into the halftime break.

The Lasers broke the tie in the 50th minute when Sophomore forward  Priscilla Martinelli (Plymouth, MA), with her back towards the keeper, flicked the ball over the keeper into the left side of the net. 

A few minutes later, graduate student Serena Speight (Biddeford, ME)  got by her defender and got a shot off, but it hit the crossbar. 

In the 67th minute, Speight got her own rebound off of her shot and passed the ball to Martinelli who found the back of the net. 

Speight added an assist to her stat line in the 84th minute when she diagonally passed the ball to sophomores forward Michelina D'Agostino, who was running down the right flank. She took a couple of dribbles and then shot the ball, passed the keeper and into the net. 

With 10 minutes left in the game sophomore forward Kaelyn Briscoe (Walpole, MA) crossed the ball across the penalty box but was unable to connect to her teammate at the lower third of the box.

When the final whistle blew, The Lasers won 4-1. 

Senior goalie Kyli Swan (Queen Creek, AZ)  finished the game with five saves.

The Lasers are back in action on Saturday to play Union College in a non-conference matchup at 3 p.m. Emmanuel will also play Saturday as they travel to the University of Saint Joseph (CT) for a 3 p.m. kickoff.
