WSOC: Lasers fall in season opener vs Endicott

Newton, Mass – The Lasell University women's soccer team opened the 2022 season against Endicott College falling 3-0 at Taylor Field. The Lasers fall to 0-1 while Endicott improves to 1-0.

The two teams were deadlocked 0-0 in the first half, but in the 55th minute Lasell was called for a handball inside the box. Endicott senior Julia Matus (East Greenwich RI) stepped up and converted the penalty kick to put the Gulls on the board. Matus didn't stop there as she scored ten minutes later when she received a pass from Freshman Samantha Klimas (North Andover, MA) and found the back of the net.

The Gull's third goal came in the 81st minute when Freshman Ella Morgan (Salem, MA), shot the ball into the corner of the net. 

Senior goalkeeper Kyli Swann (Queen Creek, AZ) made nine saves for the Lasers while Endicott Senior Jacqueline Ruggiero (Dedham, MA) made two. 

Making their first collegiate appearance for the Lasers were freshmen Camdyn LaMarre (Belgrade ME), Evelyn DiFiore (Las Vegas, NV), Reana Duran (Port Jefferson Station, NY), Alex Delaney (Hebron, CT), Sarah Lynch (Warwick, RI), Amalia Dudek (Pittsburgh, PA) and sophomore Emily DeHart (Farmington, CT).

The Lasers are back in action on Sunday, September 4th. when they host Brandeis University at 1 p.m. The Gulls next contest is on Sunday as well as they host Montclair State at 12 pm.
