WBB: Eight Lasers Score in Loss to USJ

Newton, MA - The Lasell Lasers fell to the Saint Joseph Blue Jays Thursday night by a score of 93-49. The loss drops the Lasers record to 3-14 overall, and 2-8 in conference play. The Blue Jays are now 12-7 and 8-4.

The first quarter was a back and forth affair, as neither team was able to take control. The Lasers would go up by as much as five at 15-10, but USJ then went on an 8-0 run to take the lead. The Lasers would then score the last four points of the quarter to take a 19-18 lead into the second quarter. The second quarter was where the game changed. After the two teams traded a pair of layups in the first minute, the Blue Jays would go on a 27-1 run the rest of the half, taking a 47-22 lead into halftime.

The third quarter saw the Blue Jays further extend their lead, as they used a 10-2 run to take a 62-27 lead midway through the quarter. The two teams would trade baskets the rest of the period, and head to the fourth with USJ up 73-38. The fourth was more of the same, and the Blue Jays walked away with the 93-49 win.

The Lasers had one double-digit scorer in Jasmine DePina, as she scored 10 points. She also led the team with seven rebounds. Three Lasell players scored nine points in Shirle Major, Brenna Graber, and Laura Johnson.
