McGourn Repeats as GNAC Rookie of the Week

For the fifth straight week, Jose Guitian has been named GNAC Player of the Week in men's basketball.  Guitian was not the only Laser athlete to repeat on the list this week as Brendan McGourn made his second appearance in as many weeks as the GNAC Rookie of the Week for men's volleyball.

 

Jose Guitian_edited-1.JPG In a 2-0 week for the Lasers, Guitian averaged 28 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 3.5 blocks per game, shooting 60% from the field and 85% from the free throw line.  Guitian began the week with a 19 point, 6 rebound, 6 block, and 3 assists performance at Mount Ida College, and closed the week with 37 points and 13 rebounds against Suffolk at home.  Lasell's 6'10" senior center from Miami, Florida has been named Player of the Week for the GNAC eight times this season.

A 6'1" freshman from Southington, Connecticut, McGourn earned his honor by averaging 10 assists, 1.87 kills, 1.14 digs, and .57 blocks in 14 sets over the course of the week.  In a spectacular performance against Wentworth Institute of Technology, McGourn put up 50 assists, slammed down 11 kills and added four digs.  Throughout the week McGourn assisted on 140 kills and put down 20 kills of his own.
