MVB: Lasers Run Past Blazers

Newton, MA - The Lasell Lasers played their last home match of the regular season on Tuesday, beating the Elms Blazers 25-17, 25-18, 25-13. They move to 17-12 on the season and 11-3 in conference play. The Blazers are now 5-22 and 4-9.

Despite the difference in record, the first set started out close, and saw Elms take a 14-10 lead. But a 6-0 run by the Lasers gave them control. After the Blazers tied things up at 17, the Lasers went on an 8-0 run to end the set, taking it 25-17. The second set was the Lasers take an early 11-7 advantage, and they never looked back, slowly increasing their lead throughout the set, before taking it 25-18. The third set was all Lasers from the start, as the Lasers scored points in bunches, including a 14-3 run to end it. The Lasers took the set and the match on a Brenden Joyce kill to end things.

The Lasers were led by Brenden Joyce's 14 kills on 21 attempts. Joyce also led the team will 11 digs, giving him a double-double. four other Lasers recorded at least five kills in Jasper Schultz (9), Carter Phillips (6), Dexter Thomas (6), and Theo Zaharewicz (5). Zak Burkett had 25 set assists, while Jesus Garcia had 14. Burket was also second on the team with eight digs.
