MVB: Lasers Pick Up Third Straight GNAC Sweep

Weston, MA - The Lasell Lasers Men's Volleyball team picked up their third consecutive straight set match win, defeating Regis 25-14, 25-20, 25-19. The Lasers are now 13-12 overall, and 7-3 in conference play, while the Pride are now 9-13 and 4-6.

With things tied at seven in the first set, the Lasers ran off seven consecutive points to take control of the set. They would then start to pull away even further, scoring two points in a row four more times before the end of the set, which they won 25-14. The Second set saw the Lasers gain control from the beginning, racing out to a 10-3 lead. While the Pride would inch closer, and get to within three, the Lasers closed out the set with a Jasper Schultz kill, taking set two 25-20. Lasell got out to a 9-4 lead in the third set, and never let the Pride get closer than four, always having an answer. They took the third set 25-19, and the match 3-0.

It was a balanced attack for the Lasers as eight different players recorded a kill. Dexter Thomas led the team with seven, while Jordan Shinaut had six. Both Jan Baranowski and Brenden Joyce each had five. Jesus Garcia had 22 set assists. Shinaut and Alex Weinhaus each led the team with five digs. A key part of the match was net play, as the Laser recorded 26 total blocks, with Thomas leading the way with six, and Baranowski right behind him with five.
