MVB: Lasers Pick Up Road GNAC Win

Boston, MA - The Lasell Lasers Men's Volleyball team swept the Emerson Lions 25-17, 25-17, 25-19 on Tuesday, as they move to 13-12 on the season and 7-3 in GNAC play. The Lions are now 9-12 and 6-6.

The Lasers and Lions traded points to start, as the first set was tied at seven. The Lasers then went on a 9-2 run that featured kills by Jordan Shinaut, Brenden Joyce, Jan Baranowski, and Theo Zaharewicz. After the Lions went on a mini run, the Lasers ended the set on a 7-2 run to win the set 25-17.

The second set was similar, as the Lasers led 7-6, then went on a 7-1 run to lead 14-7. The Lasers then coasted the rest of the set, never letting the Lions get closer than six, winning the second straight set 25-17.

Once again, the Lasers led 7-6 in the third set, but unlike the first two sets, the third stayed close throughout. The two teams traded points until it was 20-19 Lasers. Lasell then scored the final five points on four Lion errors and a Rande Monahan service ace.

Theo Zaharewicz led the Lasers with 14 kills on 22 attacks. Jordan Shinaut was behind him with seven, while Brendan Joyce and Jan Baranowsku each had six, Of the Lasers 35 kills, Jesus Garcia set the table on 29 of them with 29 set assists. Garcia also had seven digs, second most on the team. Alex Weinhaus led the team with eight digs. Shinaut led the team with five blocks.
