MVB: Lasers Cruise by Chargers

New London, NH - The Lasell Lasers Men's Volleyball team got back in the win column on Thursday, defeating Colby-Sawyer in straight sets 25-9, 25-13, 25-13. The win improves the Lasers record to 11-11 and 5-2 in conference play, while the Chargers are now 2-14 and 0-7.

Over the first 13 points of set one, the Lasers and Chargers went back and forth, and the Lasers held a slim 7-6 lead. But Jesus Garcia started to serve, and continued to serve for 11 straight points as the Lasers went on an 11-0 run. The run included two aces from Garcia, as well as kills from Tucker Merritt and Brenden Joyce. The Lasers would also score the last six points of the set to take it 25-9. Set two was similar as the two teams stayed close to each other early. The Lasers held a 14-12 lead. They then went on an 11-1 run to close out the set, and win it 25-13. The third set was a breeze for the Lasers as they grabbed an early lead, and coasted to a 25-13 set win, giving them the 3-0 match victory.

The Lasers offense came mostly from one of three players, as Theo Zaharewicz and Brenden Joyce each had eight kills while Riley Grenier had seven. Jesus Garcia and Zak Burkett each had double-digit assists with 15 and 11 respectively. Garcia also led the team with six digs.
