MVB: Lasers Steamroll Bulldogs in Straight Sets

Newton, MA - The Lasell Lasers played the Dean Bulldogs on Wednesday, and the Lasers cruised to an easy three set victory, winning 25-12, 25-3, 25-12. The Lasers are now 7-5 overall, and 3-1 in GNAC play, while Dean is now 1-5 and 0-1.

After being tied at one point a piece in the first set, the Lasers a 10-1 run to grab control of the set. They would then score seven of the last eight points to take set one 25-12.

Set two was controlled by the Lasers from the get-go, as they scored nine of the first 10 points. Leading 11-3, the Lasers would go on a 14-0 run to end the set. This was done behind the serving of Riley Grenier. He would collect three aces during this run, and the Lasers would take the set 25-3.

Dean would take the early 5-3 lead in the third set, but their success was short lived, as 9-1 run gave the Lasers the control. Later, an 8-0 run put Lasell up 20-8, and they would cruise to the 25-12 set win.

The Lasers were led offensively by David Massa, as he totaled 11 kills on 18 attempts. Behind him was Dexter Thomas with eight kills on 12 attempts. Jesus Garcia recorded 12 set assists in one set, while Zak Burkett totaled 10 over two sets. Defensively, Garcia and Riley Grenier led the team with four digs each. As a team the Lasers had 19 service aces, seven from Jasper Schultz, and four each from Grenier and Carter Phillips.
