Men's Volleyball: Jordan Shinaut wins seventh consecutive GNAC Rookie of the Week honor

WINTHROP, Mass. - The awards keep piling up for freshman Jordan Shinaut of the Lasell University men's volleyball team, as he earned his seventh consecutive Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week honor Monday afternoon.

Shinaut powered the Lasers (21-8, 14-2 GNAC) to a 4-0 week, as Lasell went 12-1 in sets and swept three opponents. During the week, Shinaut registered 53 kills, 15 digs and 10 total blocks.

During a 3-1 triumph at Colby-Sawyer Saturday, the Peoria, Arizona, native tied a career-high 18 kills, to go along with five blocks and a .448 hitting percentage. Shinaut was efficient in a 3-0 sweep of Eastern Nazarene Tuesday in the Athletic Center, tallying 12 kills and a .667 hitting percentage.

In sweeps over GNAC-rivals Regis and Emmanuel Thursday and Saturday, Shinaut tallied 12 and 11 kills, respectively. He ranks third in the GNAC in kills per set (3.57) and fourth in total kills (282).

The Lasers will host a semifinal-round match in the GNAC Tournament Thursday at 7 p.m. against either third-seeded Rivier or sixth-seeded Emmanuel. The match will be held in the Lasell Athletic Center.
