MVB: Lasell drops match at Wentworth

BOSTON, Mass. – The Lasell University men's volleyball team dropped a three-set match at Wentworth Institute of Technology Wednesday evening at Tansey Gymnasium, 25-17, 25-14 and 25-22.

The match was the sixth head-to-head meeting between the two schools this spring, with Wentworth winning four of the six. Lasell pulled out a five-set victory in the previous meeting between the two just four days ago. The Leopards wind up their abbreviated spring season with a 6-2 record while Lasell is now 4-4 with two matches remaining.

Sophomore Brenden Joyce (Randolph, Mass.) and freshman Ryan Fuller (Wayland, Mass.) were the top hitters for Lasell with six kills apiece, while graduate student Scott Sterenberg (Oceanside, N.Y.) and senior Aaron Waitekus (Norwood, Mass.) were limited to four kills each. Sophomore setter Jesus Garcia (Honolulu, Hawaii) finished with 19 assists and a team-high eight digs.

Wentworth had a .341 attack percentage in the match while holding Lasell to a .068 percentage. Freshman Tyler Jack (San Jose, Calif.) made 13 kills to lead the Leopards and graduate student Ryan Love (Gaithersburg, Md.) added 12 winners.

Lasell will wrap up its shortened season this Sunday, April 11, with a doubleheader at Springfield College, beginning at 1 p.m. Springfield is ranked #1 nationally is this week's AVCA Division III Men's Coaches Poll.
