Three Lasell University athletes recognized by GNAC; Beauchemin, Sterenberg, and Baranowski selected for weekly honors

NEWTON, Mass. – Three Lasell University athletes have been recognized by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) for their effort and performance on the field/court this past week.

Sophomore Alex Beauchemin (Westfield, Mass.) was selected as the men's lacrosse Goalkeeper of the Week after his outstanding performance in the past week. Beauchemin recorded a 1-0 record with an 8.00 goals against average and a .714 save percentage with 30 saves in a pair of games. He made 14 saves on 20 shots (.700) in the second half Wednesday in a loss to Roger Williams, and he made 16 saves on 22 shots (.727) to earn the victory as Lasell rallied from a 6-4 deficit to pull out the win over Plymouth State.

Senior Scott Sterenberg (Oceanside, N.Y.) was selected as the Offensive Player of the Week in the GNAC after a strong outing against No. 15 MIT. Sterenberg posted 15 kills while hitting .367% from the outside in the Lasers' one game this week. He finished with one ace and 17 total points in the match. 

Freshman Jan Baranowski (Wheeling, Ill.) earned his first Rookie of the Week honor. Baranowski added nine kills in the Lasers loss to No. 15 ranked MIT while hitting .533% to go along with three block assists.

The men's lacrosse team will play next against New England College as they travel to Maryland over the school's spring break. The men's volleyball team faces off with No. 1 Springfield College this coming Wednesday, March 11 at 6 p.m. in the Lasell Athletic Center.
