MVB: Lasell sweeps non-conference match at Eastern Nazarene

QUINCY, Mass. – The Lasell College men's volleyball team used a solid team effort Thursday night to sweep Eastern Nazarene College, 3-0, in non-conference action at the Lahue Physical Education Center.

The Lasers won by set scores of 25-13, 25-14 and 25-21, improving to 2-2 on the season, while the Lions slip to 2-3 on the year.

Six Lasers posted at least three kills in the victory, led by five kills from senior Jordan Aprea (Newington, Conn.). Sophomore Aaron Waitekus (Norwood, Mass.) pounded four winners for Lasell, and senior Andy Henriquez (Lawrence, Mass.), juniors Scott Sterenberg (Oceanside, N.Y.) and Janci Soto (Lawrnce, Mass.), and sophomore Dillon DeSouza (Enfield, Conn.) contributed three kills each. Henriquez finished with 19 assists, and Aprea had a team-high four service aces and seven digs.

Arthur Kossoski (Malden, Mass.) paced the home side with seven kills and six digs on the night. James Hoopes (Lenexa, Kan.) posted five kills and four blocks. James Garofalo (Commack, N.Y.) registered five kills and five digs while Samuel Cueva (Swampscott, Mass.) notched four kills and four blocks. Brandon Jenkins (Norton, Mass.) collected 20 assists in the match to go with four digs.

The visitors established a 1-0 advantage after claiming the opening set, 25-13. After Eastern Nazarene clawed back to level the second frame at 10-10, Lasell finished off the game with a 15-4 run to earn a 25-14 win. The Lasers prevailed 25-21 in the third to clinch the sweep.

Lasell gets right back into action on Saturday in a tri-match at Wentworth, facing the Leopards at 11:00 a.m. as well as Arcadia University at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Nazarene heads to Boston to battle Emerson next Thursday, February 7.
