Men's Volleyball Powers to 4-0 Sweep at Elmira Invitational
ELMIRA, N.Y. (2/11/17) – The No. 15 men's volleyball team earned a 4-0 sweep at the Elmira College Invitational on Friday and Saturday afternoon inside Speidel Gymnasium. The Lasers downed Nazareth (25-20, 25-15, 26-24), Sage (25-21, 25-14, 25-18), and Elmira (25-13, 25-15, 25-14) in straight sets, and came back to defeat Penn St.-Altoona 3-2 (25-20, 25-13, 17-25, 18-25, 15-7) to improve their overall record to 14-1. Lasell has now won five in a row, and is off to the most successful season in program history.

Jeff Vautrin (Chicopee, Mass.) and Tristan Davis (Rochester, N.Y.) paced the Lasers' offense in all four victories, while Jordan Aprea (Newington, Conn.) held down the defense. Vautrin reached double-digit kills in three of four matches played, highlighted by a 19-kill, 20.5 performance in the five-set showdown against Penn St.-Altoona. The senior duo combined for 28 of Lasell's 44 kills in a straight sweep of Sage, while Patrick MacDonald (Floral Park, N.Y.) and Saunoa Afoa (Las Vegas, Nev.) also contributed high offensive numbers in the Lasers' trip.

MacDonald and Afoa blasted 11 kills against Altoona, with MacDonald swinging into eight service aces overall on the weekend. Aprea, the GNAC's Defensive Player of the Week, hit the floor for 39 digs, and owned a 16-dig performance in Lasell's final match. Andy Henriquez (Lawrence, Mass.) closed out the weekend with 53 assist against Altoona, and recorded a whopping 163 helpers overall.

Lasell returns to GNAC action on Thursday, February 16 at Emerson College with first serve slated for 7:00 p.m.
