Raiders Spoil Lasers' GNAC Run 3-0 in Men's Volleyball Action

Nashua, N.H. - (3/28/16) – The Lasell men's volleyball team suffered their first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) loss in straight sets (25-15, 31-29 and 25-18) to Rivier University Wednesday evening at the Muldoon Gymnasium. While 8-1 in the league, the Lasers drop to 12-11 overall, while the Raiders improve to 15-9 this season and 5-3 in GNAC play.

The Lasers were led by junior Patrick McDonald (Floral Park, N.Y.) and senior Ryan Jackson (Canton, Ohio), who each knocked down nine kills while juniors Tristian Davis (Rochester, N.Y.) and William Gold (Ridgefield, Conn.) added five apiece. Senior setter Andrew Glenn (Westport, Conn.) dished out 26 assists and six digs to lead the team.

Sophomore Grant Andler (Chicago, Ill.) was the main factor behind the Raiders' offensive output as he hammered down a team-high 13 kills and recorded a .571 hitting percentage. Senior Mike Hadder (Yucapia, Calif.) chipped in with a solid effort from the outside with 10 kills and sophomore Matt Heckler (Simi Valley, Calif.) added five kills on a .556 hitting percentage. Junior Tyler Blank (Rochester, N.Y.) directed the offense with 42 assists and senior Nick Ochoa (Whittier, Calif.) controlled the back line with eight digs. Junior Ian Wolski (Westfield, Mass.) added eight kills in the three set win.

Lasell jumps right back into GNAC action tomorrow at 7:00 at Mount Ida College, while Rivier will be back in action this Saturday afternoon as they travel down to Providence, R.I. for a GNAC tri-match with Johnson and Wales University and Albertus Magnus College.
