Men's Volleyball Claims Fifth Straight GNAC Win over Johnson and Wales

NEWTON, Mass. (2/24/16) – The Lasell College men's volleyball team remained perfect in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play with a 3-1 victory against Johnson and Wales University on Wednesday evening. The Lasers climbed to 9-7 on the year and 5-0 in league matches while the Wildcats slid to 6-10 overall and 3-2 in conference action.

Junior Patrick MacDonald posted 17 kills, and senior Ryan Jackson tallied a double-double with 15 kills and 10 digs for Lasell. Senior setter Andrew Glenn tallied 42 assists directing the Lasers attack and junior Tristan Davis added 10 kills and 3.5 total blocks in the victory.

Alex Seda had 10 kills and 12 digs for JWU, who also got double figure kills from Kyle Eva and Brendan Baker with 13 and 12 respectively. Cameron Ponce chipped in 36 assists and seven digs in the loss.

Lasell used an 8-0 run to snap an 11-11 tie in the opening set enroute to a 25-17 win. JWU came back to knot the match up at 1-1 with a 25-23 second set victory that featured 13 different lead changes and neither team being able to pull away. A Tristan Davis service ace capped a four point streak to close out the 25-21 third set victory for Lasell to put the hosts back in front 2-1 in the match. JWU claimed an early 8-4 lead in the fourth set, but Lasell battled back tying the score at 15-15 and then tallying three straight points to break a 17-17 deadlock and holding on for the 26-24 victory.

The Lasers will head to Springfield College for a Saturday tri-match with Vassar College, taking on the Brewers at 4:00 p.m. and the hosts at 6:00 p.m.
