Men's Volleyball Takes on Top Level Competition at Juniata Invitational

HUNTINGTON, Pa. (2/20/16) – The Lasell College men's volleyball team suffered a trio of defeats at the Juniata Invitational this weekend. The Lasers dropped a 3-1 result to the hosts from Juniata on Friday evening, followed by a pair of 3-0 losses to Nazareth and SUNY New Paltz on Saturday afternoon. The Lasers slipped to 8-7 overall following the weekend.

Juniata 3 – Lasell 1

Junior Patrick MacDonald led the way for Lasell with 14 kills and three service aces, and senior Jeff Vautin tallied 12 kills to go with five aces in the match. Tristan Davis recorded nine kills and three total blocks for Lasell and Andrew Glenn chipped in 44 assists while orchestrating the Lasers attack.

Lasell captured the opening set 25-15, before dropping the next three sets 27-25, 26-24, and 25-22.

SUNY New Paltz 3 – Lasell 0

Juniors Patrick MacDonald and Tristan Davis paced Lasell with six kills apiece, and Andrew Glenn notched 19 assists as the Lasers fell 3-0 by scores of 25-13, 25-14, and 25-15 against SUNY New Paltz who is ranked 2nd in the nation.

Nazareth 3 – Lasell 0

In their second straight match against a nationally ranked opponent, 4th ranked Nazareth College the Lasers fell 3-0, by scores of 25-15, 25-21, and 25-18. Senior Ryan Jackson and juniors Tristan Davis and Patrick MacDonald each posted eight kills for Lasell in the contest, and Andrew Glenn tallied 25 assists on the day.

Lasell returns to action on Wednesday February 24th when they host Johnson and Wales University at 7:00 p.m. as they look to keep their unbeaten Great Northeast Athletic Conference record intact.
