In a back-and-forth first set, the Nighthawks found themselves down by one late but they refused to go away. Junior middle hitter Khalil Paige (Baltimore, Md.) and first year setter Luis Aranda (Boyle Heights, Calif.) appeared to swing momentum over to the Nighthawk bench going up with a double block to tie the match at 20. But the Lasers were too strong ending the first set with a 5-2 run.

Coming alive, offensively, in the second set, Robidoux led the Nighthawks with eight kills on 10 attempts with just one error for a .700 attack percentage.

However, it was not enough to stymie the Laser offense, who continued to remain red-hot hitting a staggering .588 as a team in the third set. Senior outside hitter Ryan Jackson (Canton, Ohio) led the way tallying four kills on five attempts with just one error en route to a 25-16 game three victory.
