Raffol and Vautrin Earn All-Conference Honors;Olsen Named Coach of the Year

NEWTON, Mass. (4/13/15) – Senior Dan Raffol (Natick, Mass.) and junior Jeff Vautrin (Chicopee, Mass.) received Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) all-conference honors as voted upon by the eight men's volleyball head coaches.

Head coach Tom Olsen was chosen as the GNAC Coach of the Year, after leading the Lasers to an impressive 24-8 season to go along with a 3-2 triumph over seven-time reigning conference champion Rivier University. Senior Matt Dugan (New Lenox, Ill.) was also chosen as the Lasell College representative for the GNAC-All Sportsmanship Team. 

Vautrin, as placed on the GNAC First Team, owns a .312 hitting percentage and ranks second among GNAC leaders with 3.79 kills per set. Vautrin leads the GNAC in total kills with 360, and will enter this weekend's NCAA Tournament averaging 1.67 digs per set, 0.45 blocks per set, and 0.39 service aces per set.

Raffol earned GNAC Tournament MVP and a spot on the GNAC Second Team after a stellar post-season performance. Raffol currently ranks third and fifth in the conference in total digs and kills, with 203 and 312, respectively. Raffol is averaging 2.97 kills per set, dominating a .242 swinging percentage. 

The men's volleyball team will head to Baruch College on Saturday, April 18 for the NCAA First Round match, with a time to be determined later this week.
