Men's Volleyball Remains Undefeated After Three 3-0 Victories at Live Free or Die Invite

Lasell vs. Endicott

(Nashua, N.H.) The Lasell College Men's Volleyball team defeated the Endicott College Gulls this afternoon by the score of 3-0 in the Live Free or Die Invitational at the Muldoon Gymnasium. With the win, Lasell College improves to 6-0 on the season, while the loss drops Endicott to 1-5 on the year.

In the first set, the Lasers immediately began to establish their presence, driving home a plethora of powerful kills. Offensively, the Lasers were outstanding in this one. Communication and great team work were the key for Lasell, as they were able to easily pick apart the Endicott defense. They won the first set by the score of 25-15.

The second set was a bit closer in score and seemed to be evenly matched, each team trading point for point. Despite their efforts to draw even with the Lasers, Endicott was ultimately pushed back and defeated 25-20. Finding themselves down two sets to none, Endicott needed to dig deep to pull out a victory to keep their hopes alive. Unfortunately for them, the Lasers had other plans, burying 4 quick kills and taking a commanding 4-1 start, while taking all of the momentum. Endicott would fight back, but their efforts were not enough as they were defeated 25-18 in the 3rd resulting in the sweep.

The Lasers had great performances turned in by senior Dan Raffol (Natick, Mass.) and junior Jeffery Vautrin (Chicopee, Mass.) who each recorded 12 kills apiece. Junior Andrew Glenn (Westport, Conn.) had a great game as well for the Lasers, leading the team with 37 assists. Alex Moule (Rockaway, Beach, N.Y.) chipped in as well with a game-high 16 digs.

Not all was bad for the Gulls, as they had great performances turned in by their players. Dan Seaver (Milford, Mass.) led the Gulls with 7 kills, while John Osborne (Freehold, N.J.) also recorded an additional 7 kills for Endicott. Cameron Little (San Diego, Calif.) had a team high 17 assists.

Lasell vs. Daniel Webster

Lasell countered to hit .304 as a team led by 11 kills from Dan Roffol (Natick, Mass.), while Drew Caruso (Haverhill, Mass.) added nine kills and Tristan Davis (Rochester, N.Y.) chipped in with five. For Daniel Webster, Ryan Howdeshell (Fairbanks, Alaska) and Charlie Hendrix (Kane'ohe, Haw.)Hendrix led the Eagles with nine kills apiece. In addition, DWC saw five kills from newcomer Tommy Reyes (Providence, R.I.) and the Eagles hit .247 overall.

Howdeshell led DWC with 14 assists and six digs. Andrew Glenn (Westport, Conn.) registered 22 assists for the Lasers.

The Lasers return to the court on Wednesday, February 3rd to open their Great Northeast Athletic Conference schedule at Wentworth Institute of Technology at 7:00 p.m.
