Men's Volleyball Earns 2-0 Start to the Year in JWU Tip-Off Tournament

Providence, R.I. (1/23/15) - In the opening matches of the Johnson and Wales Tip-Off Tournament, the Lasell College men's volleyball team took two victories led by the returning veterans of the squad. The Lasers took a 3-0 win over Lesley University in the opening match, followed by a 3-0 triumph over Cairn University in the second match. Lasell heads into the second day of the tournament with a 2-0 start on the year.

Lasell vs. Lesley

Lasell took a three set victory over the Lynx of Lesley University with scores of 25-8, 25-13, and 25-10. Senior Dan Raffol (Natick, Mass.) steered the Lasers with with a match-high nine kills and five digs. Junior Andrew Glenn (Westport, Conn.) also chipped in with 27 set assists in the affair.

Lasell vs. Cairn

Junior Jeff Vautrin (Chicopee, Mass.) led the Lasers with a match-high 16 kills in the 25-14, 25-23, and 25-22 three set victory over Cairn University in the second match of the tournament. Vautrin additionally chipped in with five digs, as Glenn dished out 23 set assists. 

The Lasers will look to continue their undefeated stint today at 12:00 p.m. and and 2:00 p.m. when they take on Keuka College and Purchase College.
