Vautrin Earns Tournament MVP; Leads Lasers to 4-0 Weekend at JWU Tournament

Providence, R.I. (1/24/15)- Junior Jeff Vautrin (Chicopee, Mass.) was named Tournament Most Outstanding Player at the Johnson and Wales Tip-Off Tournament this weekend. Vautrin steered the squad to a 4-0 weekend with 35 total kills and 14 digs. The Lasers took two 3-0 victories on the opening day against Lesley University and Cairn University, and repeated the 3-0 win on the second day over Keuka College and Purchase College. Hosts Johnson and Wales University also topped the tournament with a 4-0 record, however, the Lasers took first place after point ratio. The Lasers start the 2015 season on a 4-0 stint.

Lasell vs. Keuka 

Senior Dan Raffol (Natick, Mass.) had a game-high 10 kills and 3 digs to boost the Lasers took to a three set victory over Keuka College with scores of 25-22, 25-15, and 25-18. Junior Andrew Glenn (Westport, Conn.) chipped in with 25 set assists and 13 digs. Glenn joined Vautrin on the All-Tournament Team for his oustanding tournament performance, dishing out 82 total assists. 

Lasell vs. Purchase

The Lasers took their final three-set win over Purchase College with scores of 25-16, 25-11, and 25-17. Senior Matt Dugan (New Lenox, Ill.) recorded 19 set assists, while junior Drew Caruso (Haverhill, Mass.) had six kills and six digs. 

 

The Lasers return to the court on Wednsday, January 28th for their home opener against the Pride of Regis College at 6:00 p.m.
