Raffol and Vautrin Earn Men’s Volleyball All-GNAC Honors

NEWTON, Mass. (4/15/14) – Lasell College junior Dan Raffol was named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Second Team following his play during the 2014 season for the Lasers and sophomore Jeff Vautrin was named to the All-GNAC Third Team as well as being selected to the 2014 GNAC All-Tournament Team. Junior Matt Dugan was chosen as the Lasers representative on the GNAC Sportsmanship team. The trio helped Lasell to a 20-11 overall record, the most wins since the won 22 in 2010 and the best winning percentage since they finished with the same record at 20-11 in the 2009 season.

The GNAC Coaches recognized Raffol with Second Team honors for the second consecutive season, naming him a member of the team a year ago as a sophomore. Raffol ranked fifth in the GNAC in kills/set, posting an average of 3.0 kills per set while playing in 91 sets through 30 matches. The junior outside hitter led Lasell with 40 service aces on the season, and finished the year with 143 digs, the third highest total on the team.

Vautrin was named to the All-GNAC Third Team by the coaches following a campaign that saw him rank 10th in the GNAC in kills/set with 2.50, 11th in hitting percentage at .255 and 12th in the GNAC in service aces with 27. Vautrin, a sophomore transfer from Elms College was selected the New England College Conference Rookie of the Year a season ago and was selected for the NECC First Team. Vautrin was also named to the GNAC All-Tournament team, tallying 26 kills, 12 digs, five total blocks and three service aces in a pair of matches while helping Lasell nearly upset eventual champion Rivier University.

Dugan served as a libero and setter for Lasell, finishing with a team-high 191 digs as well as 131 assists, the second best mark on the team.
