Men's Volleyball Triumphs Over Emerson, 3-1

Newton, Mass. (3/21/13) - The Lasell College men's volleyball team picked up their third Great Northeast Athletic Conference victory in four tries when they defeated Emerson College, 3-1 on Thursday evening. The win improves Lasell to 10-7 overall and 3-1 in conference play, while it drops the Lions to 9-12 on the year and 3-5 in conference matches.

The Lasers rapped out 55 kills in the four set affair and tallied a .234 hitting percentage on their way to the victory by scores of 25-20, 23-25, 25-22 and 25-17. 

Alex Mill (Danville, N.H.) finished with a match-high 11 kills for Lasell, while also tallying a team-best 14 digs on the night. Dan Raffol (Natick, Mass.) totaled 10 kills, while Abdulrehman Khan (Karachi, Pakistan), Drew Caruso (Haverhill, Mass.) and Ryan Jackson (Massilon, Ohio) each finsihed with nine digs. Jackson also amassed a match-high 24 assists and Matt Dugan (New Lenox, Ill.) handed out 22 assists for Lasell with each of the collecting nine digs.with 

Alex Frapech (Woodland Hills, Calif.) posted 11 kills for the visiting Lions, while Nadav Swarttz (Newton, Mass.) and Jackson WIley (Los Angeles, Calif.) finished with seven kills in a losing effort. Jared Gross (Wexford, Penn.) totaled 19 digs for Emerson, with Frapech adding 13 digs and Brendan McGonigle (Los Angeles, Calif.) adding 22 assists.

Emerson will return to the court on Tuesday March 26th when they square-off with Emmanuel College at 7:00 p.m. Lasell will be back in action on Saturday March 23rd when they visit Johnson and Wales University for a GNAC tri-match with Emmanuel, with matches at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
