Men's Volleyball Evens Record at 3-3 with Victory at Regis

Weston, Mass. (2/21/13) - The Lasell College men's volleyball team picked up a non-conference victory at Regis College on Thursday evening to improve to 3-3 on the season. The Lasers earned the three set victory over the Pride, 25-14, 25-19 and 25-20. Regis slipped to 1-5 on the year with the loss.

Freshman Ryan Jackson (Massilon, Ohio) posted a match-high 10 kills, while also finishing with 14 assists, four digs and a pair of aces for Lasell. Julius Rosario (Stoughton, Mass.) and Anthony Allen (Blackstone Valley, Pa.) tallied six and five kills respectively for Lasell, while sophomore Matt Dugan (New Lenox, Ill.) notched a match-high 17 assists. 

Joe Coye (Plaistow, N.H.) paced the Pride with nine kills, while Dave Amicangioli (Belmont, Mass.) finished with a team-high 16 assists. 

In the opening set, both teams traded points back and forth early, and a kill by Regis freshman Joe Coye knotted the game at 5-5. The Lasers would go on a 13-2 run to put themselves ahead 23-10 following a kill by Jacksonand held on for the 25-14 win.

In the second set, the Lasers erupted for an early 5-0 lead and looked like they might run away with the set. Back-to-back service aces by Alex Caliendo (Windsor, Conn.) put Regis ahead for the first time in the set, 15-14. But four kills down the stretch, with two coming from Anthony Allen allowed Lasell to hold on for the 25-19 set victory.
The third and final set of the night began with both sides trading points early. The Lasers started to pull away, taking a 16-10 lead following a Pride service error. Two kills by Coye and a pair of errors by the visitors, helped Regis to go on a 4-0 run and and cut the visitors lead to 16-14. With the score at 19-17 in favor of Lasell, the Lasers scored four straight to take a 23-17 lead, and closed out the match to pick up a 25-20 victory.
Lasell will visit Newbury College for a tri-match this weekend where they will face the host Nighthawks as well as a rematch with the Blazers from Elms College.
