Lasers Prove Too Much For Falcons in Men's Volleyball

Newton, MA - The Lasell College men's volleyball team was too much to handle, earning a 3-1 win over Albertus Magnus on Thursday evening.  The Lasers' picked up their second GNAC victory of the season with scores of 21-25, 29-27, 25-19 and 25-19. The win improved Lasell's record to 7-6 on the season and handed Albertus their first loss, making them 7-1 for the 2012 campaign.

Alex Mill (Danville, NH) had 11 kills and seven digs, Tim Anderson (Plaistow, NH) added 13 Kills and Matt Dionne (Danville, NH) tallied 13 kills to propel the Lasers' offense. Matt Dugan also contributed with an impressive 42 assists on the night.  The Falcons standouts were Glenn Johnson (Newington, CT) with 19 kills, Brendan Charamut (Southington,CT) with 16 kills and Carlos Torres (Maspeth, NY) with 45 assists.

The Falcon's came out blazing in the first set protecting their undefeated season, taking the opening set 25-21.

The Lasers came back in an exciting set, needing extra time to pick up the win. Both teams exchanged leads throughout the game, but a big kill by Lasell's Abdulrehman Kahn (Karachi, Pakistan) tied the match at 23 and the Lasers fought off set point before pulling out a 29-27 victory.

In the third set Lasell jumped out to a five point lead and continued to control the action, building a 10 point lead in the latter half of the set. Albertus fought back cutting the lead to 24-19 by scoring four straight points. The Falcon run came to an end on a Matt Dionne kill to help Lasell close out the set. Lasell led the fourth set from start to finish to earning a 25-19 victory to win the match.

Lasell will host Elm's College Friday March 9th in a non-conference match-up and Albertus Magnus will travel to Yeshiva University on Sunday March 11th for a tri-match with Webb Institute.
