Lasers Bounce Back from Loss with a Sweep of Lesley

Newton, MA - The Lasell College men's volleyball team swept Lesley University, 3-0 on Thursday night by scores of 25-13, 25-11, and 25-12. The victory ran the Lasers' winning streak to six consecutive  matches against the Lynx, dating back to the 2006 season. Lasell took the court looking to bounce back  from their loss versus Daniel Webster earlier in the week. Junior Alex Mill(Danville, NH) had 8 kills and 3 blocks and freshman Dan Raffol(Natick, MA) added 8 kills, 11 digs to lead the way for the Lasers. Also contributing to the decisive win was freshman Matt Dugan(New Lenox, IL) with a team leading 20 assists. Max Hoevenaar(Orlando, FL) led the Lynx with 5 kills, 3 digs and 2 blocks. Lasell is now 2-1 on the year and Lesley falls to 1-5.

Lasell battled with Lesley in the opening set falling behind 2-0 early, but the Lasers turned things around with help from David Farwell,4 service aces, and Dan Raffol in the closing half of the set for the victory 25-13.

The second set was back and forth early on, but the Lasers scored 11 consecutive points on the back of Vincent Ithier(Newington, CT) who tallied 2 service aces in the run. Lesley would only score 6 more points as Lasell finished the set with 21 total attacks, and 8 kills for the win 25-11.

The third set proved to be no different in terms of dominance as the Lasers came out with a 10-3 run. Digging deep, The Lynx dug in attempting a comeback but their  efforts fell short, thanks to  a 13 kill performance by the Lasers as they finished the set with a 25-12 win to take the match 3-0.

Lesley plays host to the visiting Daniel Webster College on February 18th at 7pm while Lasell heads to Emerson College on Monday February 20th for a GNAC tri-match with the host Lions and Johnson and Wales University.
