Lasers Pick Up A Pair of Victories over Falcons

NEWTON, MA-  The Lasell College Lasers improved to 20-13 this season after a pair of Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victories over Albertus Magnus College in a double-header on Tuesday night in the Athletic Center.  The contests also marked senior night for Mike Harrington (Billerica, MA) and Micah Aiu (Honolulu, HI) who are playing in their final season with the Lasers.

 

Lasell earned 3-0 wins in both matches against the Falcons, who fall to 1-17 this year.  In the first contest, Lasell swept the Falcons by scores of 25-18, 25-8, 25-17, and in the latter contest, the Lasers won by scores of 25-5, 25-21, 25-15.

 

 The Lasers were led by Alex Mill (Danville, NH) and Spencer Parker (Newington, CT) in the first match who each put away eight kills.  Mill went 8-for-15 on his attempts with just one error, hitting a .467 clip in the match.  Mill and Parker also added five and six digs respectively.

 

Five time GNAC Rookie of the Week Andrew Glenn (Westport, CT) handed out 16 assists in the match and Max Vaughan (Wethersfield, CT) put up an additional eight assists, while chipping in with four kills and seven digs.  Harrington collected a team-best eight digs, adding four kills and two blocks, and Aiu collected four points on his serve while adding three kills and five digs.

 

Chris Pfeffer (Torrington, CT) led the way for the Falcons with a team-best six kills.  Pfeffer went 6-for-17 hitting with only two errors, finishing the first match hitting a team-best .235.  Douglas DeSousa (Danbury, CT) collected a match-high nine digs in the three sets and also dished out 11 assists to the Falcon hitters.

 

In the nightcap, Harrington highlighted Lasell's hitting going 8-for-14 with no errors, with an attack percentage of 57.1%. Harrington also picked up a match-high 10 digs. 

 

 As a team, Lasell hit 30-for-67 with eight errors, computing a team hitting percentage of 32.8%.  Aiu and Parker each notched five kills and seven digs in the victory.  Glenn once again dished out a game-best 17 assists and Parker added eight.

 

Pfeffer added seven more kills to his accolades in the second contest, matching the effort with seven digs.  DeSousa knocked down eight kills, picked up nine digs, and distributed five assists for the Falcons and David Teodosio (Guilford, CT) made 11 assists and scooped up seven digs.

 

The Lasers have just one more regular season contest which they will play on Thursday, March 24th at Emerson College at 7:00 p.m.
