Lasers Complete a Trilogy of Wins over New Haven in 2011
NEWTON, MA- The Lasell College men's volleyball team has been successful in defeating the University of New Haven in a triad of matches this season, completing the ensemble on Wednesday night with a 3-0 sweep of the Chargers in the Athletic Center.  Lasell strengthens their overall record to 15-12 this season as they improve on a four game winning-streak, while New Haven slips to 3-8 on the year. 

The Chargers forced extra points in the first game as they kept in step with the Lasers throughout.  Lasell ultimately came up with the 27-25 set victory in the end.  Game two and three were comparable, each concluding with identical scores of 25-17. 

Lasell's Spencer Parker (Newington, CT) dominated the offense, pounding 16 kills in the triumph, while swinging for a .321 attack percentage. Parker was also the lead defender with eight digs, adding two blocks to the mix.

This week's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week, Alex Mill (Danville, NH), drove eight additional hits straight to the floor for Lasell while also chipping in with six digs.  GNAC Rookie of the Week Andrew Glenn (Westport, CT) was also on point, serving up 33 assists in the match, and adding four digs, two kills, and a block.

Micah Aiu (Honolulu, HI) and Max Vaughan (Wethersfield, CT) collectively put down 11 kills in the three sets and libero Chris Burns (Chelmsford, MA) contributed seven defensive pick-ups.

For New Haven, Ben Hollies (Seattle, WA) knocked down 11 kills, and led the squad with a .292 hitting clip as well.  Hollies also tied for a team-high five digs along side Ryan Earl (Greenville, NY) who additionally set up 25 kills with helpers.

Brian Parmelee (Westport, CT) notched six kills and four digs in a losing effort and Sean Donahue (Lincoln, RI) and Gregg Brisbin (Laurel Springs, NJ) kept pace with five kills each.  Donahue added two blocks for the Chargers.

On Friday, March 18th, Lasell will leave for Providence, Rhode Island to compete at the Johnson & Wales University Invitational over the weekend.  Lasell will meet up with the hosting Wildcats first at 6:00 p.m. on Friday and then scuffle with Stevenson College at 8:00 p.m. Saturday's contests will be determined based on results of the first day of competition.
