Raiders Rebound to Top Lasell 3-0 in Second GNAC Meeting of the Season

NASHUA, NH -  After taking the no. 9 Rivier College men's volleyball team to a five set nail-biter just last week, the Lasell College Lasers were topped, 3-0, by the Raiders on Wednesday night in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tussle. The national leaders used a .300 attack percentage as a team, along with 16 total blocks to put away the match by scores of 25-19, 25-18, and 25-15. 

 

Rivier went 35-12-80 over the course of the night to accumulate the skillful hitting percentage. Behind middle hitters Alex Xenidis (Shelton, CT) and Taylor Lindner (Chesire, CT) the Raiders combined for 11 kills on 23 attempts with just two errors.  Jared Andreozzi (Barrington, RI) produced near those numbers on his own, putting down 11 kills on 23 chances, with four errors.

 

Lasell finished the contest hitting a .120 clip as a squad, earning points on 27-of-75 total attacks.  Spencer Parker (Newington, CT) recorded notable numbers with 10 kills out of 18 total attempts with just three errors (38.9%). The sophomore outside hitter also picked up a team-high six digs and added three blocks. 

 

Sophomore outside hitters Harry Strobel (Westport, CT) and Alex Mill (Danville, NH) capitalized on four attacks each while also picking up three digs apiece.  Senior middle hitter Mike Harrington (Billerica, MA) secured a team-best four blocks and freshman setter Andrew Glenn (Westport, CT) dished out 23 assists and picked up five digs.   Senior middle hitter Micah Aiu (Honolulu, HI) added three kills and four digs. 

 

Lasell (11-10, 3-4 GNAC) will travel to the MIT Invitational this weekend, kicking off action against Endicott College at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 4th.
