NEWTON, MA- For the first time in the 2011 season, sophomore outside hitter Spencer Parker (Newington, CT) has been selected as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's volleyball Player of the Week.
Parker was phenomenal at the Vassar College Invitational Tournament over the weekend, collecting 39 total kills on 76 swings while adding 20 digs on defense. He recorded a match-high 14 kills against the hosting Brewers as well as a match-high 10 kills and nine digs against GNAC rivals Johnson & Wales University (RI).
Over the course of the weekend, Parker averaged 3.54 kills and 1.81 digs per set.
The Lasers are back in action on Wednesday, February 23rd when they will entertain Johnson &Wales University at 7:00 p.m. in the Athletic Center. This second meeting of the season against the Wildcats will count towards GNAC standings.
